A Good Thing To Do…

UPDATE: 4 February 2024

Yesterday (Saturday 3 February) “A Good Thing To Do: Andrew Crummy’s Cancer Tapestry” was screened to an invited audience at The Cornerstone Centre, Edinburgh.

Today being World Cancer Day the film is now available to watch online (for a limited time) and includes additional shots from yesterday’s exhibition featuring Andrew’s preliminary drawings, paintings and the first completed Cancer Tapestry Panels. It was an incredible successful day with over 100 visitors including invited guests and Andrew himself taking questions from the audience at the screening.

The TRAILER is available below. The short will also be available as long as it’s out of competition at a variety of festivals.

So, I hope your enjoy the film and please click on the YouTube button to leave a like, a comment and subscribe to my channel – it all helps to get the film in front of other viewers.

Thank you so much!

In 2017 Edinburgh artist Andrew Crummy was diagnosed with throat cancer. He vowed that if he survived he would tell the story of cancer by bringing people together to create something potentially bigger and more globally significant than his other great work, The Great Tapestry of Scotland.

My new documentary,

“A Good Thing To Do: Andrew Crummy’s Cancer Tapestry”…

Graphic advertising a documentary screening event in Edinburgh.

..supported by Macmillan Cancer Support, chronicles the inception of the idea and what it means to those who have taken part so far.

And so if you’re in or around #Edinburgh on Saturday 3 February – the day before #WorldCancerDay – please join Andrew, myself and the Cancer Tapestry team for the first public screenings of this new film. You’ll also be able to view the first public exhibition of the Cancer Tapestry as is stands today as well as Andrews original sketch’s and paintings for the project.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to add a stitch of their own to this historic artwork.

This film has been more than two years in the making and I’m excited for people to see and learn more about Andrew’s amazing work!

“A Good Thing To Do: Andrew Crummy’s Cancer Tapestry” will be available for a limited period on this page from Sunday 4 February (World Cancer Day) 2024.
